Appointment Type: Title 5 Indefinite Excepted Service
This position is located in the Human Resources Office. The primary purpose of the position is to provide limited technical assistance to Human Resources Specialists within the office and to managers, supervisors, and technicians of the serviced organization for a wide range of human resources matters. As a HR ASST-GS-0203-5/7, you will: Process a wide range of human resources transactions related to recruitment and placement, classification, employee relations, human resource development, and/or incentive awards. Provide technical assistance in the area of recruitment and placement. Advise and provides procedural and technical guidance to managers, supervisors, and applicants on recruitment and placement, qualification requirements, merit promotion procedures, transfers, eligibility determinations, methods of recruitment, and initial employment. Assist classification specialist by performing job audits and making classification determinations on a variety of clerical, and technical occupations (GS-07 and below) and Wage Grade occupations where standards clearly apply. Provide technical assistance in executing the employee relations program. Provide assistance to the Human Resources Development Specialist. Performs other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment
Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws. Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience performing personnel transactions. Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control.
If you are using Education to qualify for this position, completion of 2 academic years of education in an accredited college or university will satisfy the requirements for GS-4 positions. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
