Responsibilities

A AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-5823-10:

  • Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations.
  • Assigns tasks to be performed.
  • Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies.
  • Performs the non- supervisory work of the function as needed.
  • Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Military Grades: Enlisted E7-E9

Compatible Military Assignments: * 2T3XX*

  • Must maintain membership in the WA National Guard for continued employment.

  • Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the AFSC to apply or be considered for selection. Selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible Military position and attain AFSC within 1 year of appointment action.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE*:* Experience or training performing a variety of complex automotive maintenance procedures without assistance. Experience which demonstrates knowledge and use of a wide variety of test and measuring instruments in identifying the need for repair and adjustment or in checking the tolerance and fit specifications of repaired components and assemblies. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

*Other Requirements - For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
