Technician I (Fiber Optic-IC-WAF) Job Description: *Perform installation/removal/upgrades for electrical/electronic/IC/C4I tasks such as: *Wiring of terminal boxes *Testing and verifying connections *Meggering cables *Testing, troubleshooting, etc *Perform system testing to evaluate performance and functionality. *Operate tools to aide in fabricating, installing, removing, and upgrading tasks. *Use drawings, technical manuals, instructions, standards, and specifications to perform system installation, removal, and upgrade activities. *Certified to perform with cableways, connectors (trainee), and fire watch in confined space. May need some special qualifications like Fiber Handler, Shipyard Competent Person, Paint sampling etc. *Certified to perform connectors(full), may have some special qualifications like Shipyard Competent Person, Fiber Installer, PAI, etc. *Knowledgeable in reading drawings and ability to perform unsupervised installations. *Can perform tasking as an Under-Instruction Site Supervisor such as, drawing review, QA book/work package management, WAF submission and management, lock out/tag out submission and management, and BOM reviews. *The ability to lead crews (3+ personnel) or be a point of contact for support type contracts in performing day to day work. Qualifications: *Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. *Must have at least 3 years’ experience in the Technician I field. *Must have working knowledge of drawings, shipyard operations, Navy operations, NAVSEA instructions, WAF and Tagout requirements, and general AIT contractor knowledge. *Must be Cableway Management Certified. *Must be Connector Fabricator Certified. *Must have an Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA-10 Hour Maritime: Shipyard Employment. *Must have the ability to communicate effectively. Desired Qualifications: *Fiber Optic Certified (kSaria/KITCO), Fiber Optic CORE, Fiber Optic Cable Handling (Penetration, and Repair/Modification), FOICB/TRB Forming, Routing, Shaping, Fiber Optic Termination (Single and Multi-Terminus), Optical Testing. *Able to obtain a passport Security Requirements: *Must have the eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance and access to private and public shipyards and Naval installations. Travel Requirements: *Up to 50% travel nationwide to include international travel as needed. *If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 20 lbs. *Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. *Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. *May ride ships at sea for extended periods. *May require wearing a respirator.
