Shift: ALL Security Clearance:No Clearance I. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description) Performs predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications for QA inspections and tests required to substantiate conformance to drawings, specifications, and contract requirements. Conducts surveillance audits in all phases and stages during ship repair. II. POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training) Technical/Associate Degree, preferably Q.A./Marine-related or equivalent, or 4 to 6 years of Quality Assurance inspection experience or equivalent trade related. Certified as a Non-Destructive Test Inspector Level II (includes VT, PT, MT, and UT) to NAVSEA TECHPUB requirements or certified in accordance with the NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector (NBPI) course, NACE International Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Level 1 or higher, or SSPC Protective Coating Inspector Program (PCI) Level 2. If not certified, must be able to be certified if assigned these duties. Knowledge of ship repair procedures, including welding preservation, structural, machinery, electrical piping, ventilation and familiarity with various measuring instruments related to inspections. POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience) A. Must be able to perform the essentials of the position including the ability to work at heights, enter tanks, voids and cofferdams to perform competent person duties. B. Must be able to climb vertical ladders, work around moving machinery and perform tasks while using a sky climber, scissor lift and/or condor. C. Ability to read and understand blueprints, military standard/specifications, Regulatory Body Requirements, and Shipbuilding Specifications. D. Possess a good general knowledge of ship repair procedures and test requirements E. Skilled in blueprint reading, precision instrument utilization, and technical manual interpretation. F. Able to set, self-calibrate and use assigned testing, inspection and QA instruments. G. Fundamental problem-solving skills. H. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. I. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft office suite. J. Must be able to utilize use of printer and scanner activities. K. Good written and verbal communication skills. L. Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, resourcefulness, and good judgment in dealing with others. III. IV. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to QA Supervisor. Maintains internal contact with Project Management. Outside contact includes sub-contractors and government or Navy personnel. Must be a team player. V. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES A. Witnesses or performs and documents (I) (V) and (G) point inspections and other test at key points in the work process. B. Creates written records to document the inspection results and provide supporting documentation to the Test and Inspection plan. C. Ensure all QA inspection equipment being utilized is calibrated and is certified under the company's calibration process/programs. D. Technical knowledge in using various measuring devices. E. Evaluate results from tests and inspections to determine acceptability. F. Has the authority to accept, reject or rework defective or malfunctioning units as per procedures.
