Summary You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER in the FORCE PROTECTION of NAVBASE KITSAP SEC DET. Responsibilities You will conduct physical security checks of buildings or facilities during an assigned shift. You will take statements from victims, suspects, and witnesses to clarify conflicting information. You will compile evidence in accordance with mandated procedures. You will operate radar or other speed detection equipment to monitor and enforce traffic regulations or laws. You will control access to secure areas by determining which vehicles or personnel have credentials for entry. Incumbent must have stamina, agility and strength to defend themselves, defend others, pursue and apprehend or detain suspects. Incumbent must be physically fit and agile in order to pursue persons on foot over/around rough and/or slippery terrain or obstacles and up and down stairs, and to participate as a member of a special reaction or tactics squad in advent of terrorist or hostage situation. Officers must successfully complete annual agility testing in order to retain position. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Shall be required to be CPR certified and utilize a portable heart defibrillator were available. May be required to respond to other military installations within the region or off installation events when directed by higher authority to a disaster scene or during a national emergency. Maintains proficiency for response to installation perimeter breeches, hostage situations, vehicle borne improvised explosive device (IED), waterborne (IED) and pedestrian borne improvised explosive attacks, active shooter incidents, bomb threats, counter unmanned systems, suspicious packages and other terrorist threats, natural disasters, civil disturbances, and a myriad of law enforcement responses. Must be able to successfully complete the mandated 40-hour Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) to be qualified to Operate motor vehicles (i.e. sedans, cargo trucks, pickup trucks) having gross vehicle weights of 7,000 pounds or less, loading capacities of 1 ton or less, manual transmissions, and 2 or 4-wheel drive in support of operations and to transport personnel and materials throughout the installation and on public roads. With additional training, the in cumbent may be required to qualify on police bicycles and other rough terrain vehicles such as ATVs and snow mobiles. Due to significant training requirements levied by DoD, SECNAV and OPNAV, incumbent must be trained and qualified to conduct Guardmount and pre/post watch training of other LE personnel before, during and after the assigned shift. Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation. Must meet OPM hearing and vision requirements to include distinguishing basic shades of color. Must meet applicable federal and/or state minimum age requirements for the assigned Installation. The incumbent must carry firearms while on duty and maintain proficiency in the use of assigned equipment. Incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English. Must successfully complete a DoD approved Police Training Academy or equivalent course,e.g., Navy Police Officer Academy; a federal or military police academy; or equivalent lawenforcement training. Must also successfully complete any annual sustainment training, Level 1Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) contamination training (if applicable), and OC refresher training. Employee must successfully pass an initial, annual, or any required OPM, DoD, or Department of the Navy mental and emotional stability screening, physical ability test, and physical fitness for duty test. Position is subject to shift work, recall and/or unplanned overtime work. Employees are required to provide accurate contact information to supervisor. Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. "Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 months of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training."
