As the Performing Arts Instructor, you will provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants in performing arts classes. You will ensure high quality member-focused performing arts programs by providing leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants.In this position, you will work with the Program Director to develop lesson plans with a natural progression that relate to the abilities and ages of the classes being taught as well as reflect YMCA core values. You will participate in performances, theater camp, Y Arts Week events and other YMCA events as assigned. You will fine tune your skills as an instructor by teaching and demonstrating sound technical and artistic principles. Are you a good fit? *You have a commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment. *You have 5 years of formal training in performing arts or comparable experience. *You have 1-2 years of experience as a teacher and/or teaching assistant. *You are able to instruct beginning and intermediate level classes. *You are excited to teach classes for ages preschool through adult. *You have a positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations. *You firmly believe that the arts should be open to everyone regardless of artistic ability, experience, or financial circumstance. *Able to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online or in-person training as required.
