PACIFIC SHIP REPAIR AND FABRICATION NDT Inspector Level II/Quality Assurance Assistant in Bremerton, Washington

Job Summary QA Department NDT Inspector, responsible for QA Administration and accomplishment of VT, PT, MT Inspections in Marine Ship Repair. *Qualifications*

A minimum of 5 years of experience performing and documenting Non-Destructive Test (NDT) and Inspections onboard US Navy vessels in Ship Repair environments. PACSHIP Inspectors are typically multi-talented with diverse experience wearing different hats as necessary during high pressure periods of performance. Must have calm demeanor, strong organizational, analytical, problem solving skills. Experience with MS-Office (especially Excel, Word) is needed. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience is a plus Essential Job Tasks & Responsibilities

  • High school diploma or GED and safety training.
  • Certified NDT Level II, NBPI a plus. Works directly for the NDT Level III. Level II NDT Certification/CWI (Visual (VT), Liquid Dye Penetrant (PT), and Magnetic Particle (MT)) preferred.
  • Must be able obtain/maintain certification in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), for Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), and Visual Testing (VT)
  • When not performing inspections applies knowledge of QA processes for checkpoint callouts and TIP maintenance as needed. Working familiarity with the Navy Maintenance Data (NMD) System
  • Skilled reading and interpreting Naval Drawings with strengths in steel applied to HM&E. Understands NAVSEA Standard Items and Local Standard Items related to shipboard work.
  • Familiar with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and Tagout User's Manual (TUMS) used in the execution of shipboard maintenance.
  • Assists the Level III developing weld packages during Ship availabilities. Mentors welders new to the Structures Department.
  • Participates in the training and qualification of new and returning welders to maintain qualifications.
  • Supports internal and external regulatory audits with the aim of improving the overall product/system quality.
  • Adheres to all PACSHIP organizational policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Physical/Mental Involvement & Environmental Factors The job is normally performed in the weld fabrication facility and onboard ship for certification of work. Shipboard work may include working at heights and inside constricted areas to perform inspections. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
