Summary You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (DATA MANAGEMENT) in the Information Technology and Cyber Security Department of PSNS and IMF. Responsibilities You will manage database access and control backup procedures using RMAN, to ensure maximum availability of data to authorized users. You will perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle database management systems software. You will customize and install routine and emergency database patches, upgrades, and backups. You will analyze and plan for anticipated changes in data capacity and plans and execute data system implementations. You will provide guidance in analyzing database/system acceptability test results and initiating required corrective actions for any deficiencies discovered during testing. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Consulting with customers in analyzing or managing database access (i.e. Oracle, WebLogic) systems or database configurations to correct problems and ensure availability of data to authorized users. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. 1. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurances policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of data management services. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Consul with technical staff and customers to identify and specify data requirements. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Serves as senior consultant to top agency officials to advise on integrating IT problems with other programs of equivalent scope and complexity. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Executing routine backups using RMAN and performing disaster recovery operations.
