Summary You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER/ARCHITECT in the BREMERTON FEAD of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Responsibilities You will provide assistance and technical guidance to other engineers/architects, or other NAVFAC business/support lines or functional areas, exercising engineering skills when leading the execution of ROICC construction projects. You will manage multiple priorities and provide technical recommendations/solutions to complex problems encountered during the administration of the construction contracts. You will be responsible for enforcement of all technical and administrative provisions of assigned construction contracts. You will monitor available project budget and time constraints. You will personally prepare or coordinate the preparation of sketches and drawings in support of negotiations and issuance of the modification. You will provide technical support during contract or task-order negotiations. You will serve as coach/trainer/mentor for members who have not attained the level of expertise and experience gained by the incumbent. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1)Applying theories, concepts, principles and practices in engineering/architecture for complex multiple engineering areas of consultation, design and construction; 2) Using computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, electronic e-mail, internet, and database software; 3) Reviewing and approving all contract technical submittals (e.g. design drawings, product selection, environmental protection plans, schedules and/or quality control plans); 4) Monitoring construction contractor quality and safety programs by conducting site visits; 5) Reviewing pre-final contract drawing and specifications. *NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. For the GS-0808, Professional Architecture Series applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in architecture. OR Successful completion of bachelor's or higher degree in a field related to architecture that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. OR Successful completion of a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. My curriculum for a degree in either architecture or architectural engineering covers function, esthetics, site, structure, economics, mechanical-electrical, and other engineering problems related to the design and construction of buildings primarily (but not exclusively) intended to house human activities OR I lack a degree in architecture, but I have 1 year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture that demonstrates that I have acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture.
