Olympic Educational Service District 114 Early Learning Dept. Home Visitor in Bremerton, Washington

Spanish speaking candidates preferred. Locations are throughout Kitsap County. Work directly with children ages prenatal through age 3 and their families to plan and implement a developmentally and culturally appropriate learning environment in the home setting in partnership with the parents. Support parents in their primary role as engaged caregivers by conducting weekly 90-minute home visits. Encourage family participation in socializations (playgroups), parenting workshops, Policy Council and Health Advisory Council. Work in partnership with families, reinforcing beliefs of parent-as-expert of their own child and being present without judgment. Coach and facilitate developmentally appropriate parent-child interactions that enhance the family relationship and build attachment and bonding between the parent and child. Complete all required documentation and data entry accurately, completely and within stated deadlines. Ensure all record keeping is organized and managed appropriately according to Head Start Performance Standards and Early Learning Department policies. Ensure that all paperwork, including developmental screenings and assessments, observations and anecdotal notes, are completed prior to mandated deadlines and that the appropriate program procedures, including documentation, are correctly followed. Partner with and build confidence in parents to create and maintain a learning environment that supports children and families, is responsive to individual needs over time, and promotes early childhood growth and development. Work with parents, their families, and other staff to screen and assess children's strengths and growth needs, developing individual learning plans and goals for each child in partnership with the family. In a strengths-based way, utilizing reflective practices, support family in assessing the family strengths and needs to establish a Family Partnership Agreement with family-determined meaningful goals. Provide support in identifying and accessing resources related to social service, health, mental health, housing and other needs as identified in through your working partnership with families. In partnership with families and community health providers, track and monitor the health and physical development of children through conducting screenings and assessments. This may include screening a child's hearing, vision, height, weight, well child exams, immunizations, and dental services. Support program recruitment by participating in opportunities in the community to share about our program. These may include department-sponsored events or activities of your choosing, in partnership with recruitment staff. Model appropriate communication skills, guidance techniques, and nurturing qualities and promote positive relationships between caregivers, children, and families. Actively engage in developing and maintaining a strong, responsive and positive partnership with community agencies. Support families in their child's transition from Early Head Start to the next learning experience within required timelines and in partnership with the family and department and/or community resources. Maintain certification as a Parents as Teachers provider. Work both independently and collaboratively with OESD 114 Early Learning Department staff, colleagues, supervisors, and leadership team. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect children, staff, equipment, materials, facilities and self. Participate in meetings and trainings as required, ensuring timeliness and preparedness. Perform related duties as assigned. A minimum of a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate's or bachelor's degree; Associate of Arts degree in Human Development, Human Services, or similar field preferred
