U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPEC in Bremerton, Washington
This is a training opportunity in the Environmental Safety & Health Department of PSNS and IMF, intended to provide the competencies necessary to perform Environmental Protection Specialist duties. If selected, you will be placed on a Detail not-to-exceed 1 year. There will be no change in your pay for the duration of this training opportunity Detail.
You will provide support in resolving compliance issues regarding: hazardous waste disposal, packaging and manifesting, air and water pollution control measures, underground storage tank and also the minimization of hazardous waste generation.
You will assist in conducting periodic self-evaluations to review compliance with regulatory requirements and Navy/Shipyard policies and instructions.
You will prepare reports to regulatory agencies for discharges to storm and sanitary sewer systems, hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, polychlorinated biphenyl (PCBs), air emissions, asbestos removal, etc.
Conditions of Employment
This is a Competitive Detail not-to-exceed 1 year Eligibility:You are eligible for this training opportunity if you are a current permanent PSNS employee with journey-level HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSING (WG-6913-07) experience or GS-0343-09 MANAGEMENT and/or PROGRAM ANALYSIS experience. Employees are not required to meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualification requirements for Environmental Protection Specialist for this competitive detail opportunity.
