Oyster Bay Inn & Suites Carpet/Tiling Flooring Installer in Bremerton, Washington

Position Overview: The Tiling and Carpet Installer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of tiling and carpeting in hotel guestrooms, hallways, common areas, and other designated spaces. This role ensures that all flooring work is completed to the highest standards, following hotel specifications and safety protocols, and contributes to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measure and assess areas designated for tiling or carpet installation, ensuring precise cutting and fitting.
  • Install a wide range of floor tiles (ceramic, porcelain, stone, etc.) and carpets in accordance with project requirements and design plans.
  • Prepare surfaces by removing old flooring, cleaning, leveling, and priming floors.
  • Mix and apply adhesives, grout, or other materials for secure installation.
  • Lay and stretch carpets to ensure a smooth, secure fit without wrinkles or gaps.
  • Cut and shape tile and carpet pieces to fit around obstacles such as pipes, drains, or doorways.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel safety standards, including proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and replacements of existing tiling and carpeting as needed.
  • Collaborate with the hotel's maintenance team and other contractors to coordinate flooring work and minimize guest disruptions.
  • Keep work areas clean and dispose of debris safely.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and materials, and report needs for replenishment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in tiling and carpet installation (3+ years preferred).
  • Knowledge of flooring installation techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on precision and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, design plans, and specifications.
  • Physical stamina to handle heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills for handling complex installation challenges.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in flooring installation is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily indoor work in hotel guestrooms, lobbies, hallways, and other common areas.
  • May require flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to minimize disruption to hotel operations and guest experience.
  • Use of power tools, adhesives, and materials that require safety precautions.
