We're looking for dedicated individuals to operate our transit buses on designated routes and adhere to our time schedules. 

ACCESS service is door-to-door or curb-to-curb transit service provided to eligible seniors and persons with disabilities. *ACCESS *also offers and On-Demand/Dial-A-Ride Service from Bainbridge Island.

With a flexible working schedule, the Routed Service is transit service on a fixed route serving the public in Kitsap County. 

Kitsap Transit is hiring for both full-time and part-time positions---whether you're looking for a steady schedule or flexible hours, we have work pieces to fit your needs. Our positions include paid training to ensure you're fully prepared, confident, and ready to succeed. Please note that training requires full availability and can resemble a full-time schedule. This is a crucial time to build your skills, gain knowledge, and get familiar with our systems and routes, so we ask that you are available for the entire training period.

ACCESS *Starting Pay: *$23.68/hr.                                *Routed *Starting Pay: **$25.13/hr.

Paid Time Off: *Full-Time and Extra Board Operators accrue *6.7693 accrual and holiday pay each year as per the contract.

Essential Duties

 

*ACCESS *Essential Duties

  • Operate a bus or van to pick up and transport seniors and persons with disabilities to/from their destination.
  • Escort/assist passengers from door at home or pick-up location to the bus and help them with boarding and disembarking. 
  • Monitor fare collection and provide information to passengers about available services.
  • Provide a valuable and essential service to your community.
  • Load and unload passengers using wheelchairs and scooters while operating the vehicle lift and securing the mobility aids in vehicles.
  • Maintain a Commercial Driver's License. Training provided to obtain a Commercial Driver's License. Routed Essential Duties
  • Safely operate a transit bus, following set routes and schedules.
  • Collect fares with accuracy and provide friendly assistance to passengers.
  • Share valuable information about routes, schedules, and local locations.
  • Offer a crucial service that connects our community and enhances daily commutes.

     

Qualifications

 

Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Valid Washington State Driv
