Job Description Summary

In this role, you will serve as the TMO Operations Director supporting our efforts to transform our business to a product and expert services company by leveraging partners and benchmarking with other external competitors. This role will partner with the Transformation Management Office (TMO) leader to drive operational excellence and lean management with the TMO team and its work across the broader Grid organization. The Operations Director role will play a critical role in the TMO’s work on high profile business improvement initiatives, helping identify and tackle some of our most important business challenges.

You will be part of a dedicated Transformation Office which has been set up to drive cross-functional business transformation efforts. You will focus on creating, deploying, and managing operating rhythms, governance frameworks, lean tools, and other structures with the TMO team as well as the TMO’s work with strategic partners and the wider business.

You will focus on setting up an overall governance framework for the business including reportcards and metrics to measure the transformation impact. In addition, working with the Global TMO Leader you will strategically plan a 3 year transformation framework for the global business

The ideal candidate will be a motivated operations leader with lean aptitude and business acumen to generate change and provide operational rigor through significant transformations. They will be equipped with change management and influencing skills to work with senior business stakeholders. They will be able to work across a diverse, cross-functional team to achieve strong program governance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with the TMO cross-functional team as the operations leader to execute on various business transformation initiatives being run by the TMO. Single point of contact for program governance and cadence

  • Establish and manage regular operating cadences with the TMO team, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), individual functional teams, and other stakeholder groups

  • Work closely with leadership teams providing advice and guidance across the functions to ensure compliance with operational rigor, continuous development of people and processes, and effective management of budget and resource-have a deep understanding of the financial data associated with the business. In addition, work with multiple businesses and teams to gather process and system data for integrating into a centralized transformation management system

  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve processes. Stays informed of industry trends that may affect work

  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in multiple business areas. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision

  • May lead functional teams or projects with global resources, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on topics.

  • Work with functional leaders on continuous improvement and provide support where needed to meet operational targets. Owner of the operational KPIs targets definition

  • Leverage a broad set of data sources to understand dynamics, identify levers for growth, develop implementation strategies, and drive financial impact.

  • Implement lean ways of thinking on the team, leveraging core lean tools such as daily management, KPIs, action-planning, and problem-solving. Appropriately engage with key lean management structures in place across the business and within TMO (Hoshin Kanri, Monthly Operating Reviews).

  • Develop and deploy a comprehensive communication strategy with the TMO team; coordinate on a regular basis for distribution to various leadership teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, science, engineering, technology or related discipline

  • 15+ years’ experience in operations leadership and driving transformation within project delivery

Experience (Essential Functions)

  • Knowledge of software delivery execution methodologies, tools and templates

  • Good working knowledge of Lean and experience implementing Lean to drive business transformation

  • Culturally sensitive, capable of handling interactions with a “global mindset”

  • Strong project management and facilitation skills

  • Experience managing the life-cycle of complex initiatives, unblocking teams and increasing the speed of delivery, negotiating resources and priorities, learning to force multiply and escalating effectively

  • Strong business acumen.Purpose led, value driven leader with a track record of managing operations team with 15+ years’ experience in a global software business environment

  • Able to deliver on multiple priorities and take ownership for diverse workstreams ensuring smooth transition and setting up consistent high quality delivery

  • Demonstrated experience with software system operations organizations – prior experience managing operations teams

  • Process improvement experience, driving operational and technological innovation

  • Passionate about driving change/influence across cross-functional and organizational boundaries

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills – ability to synthesize complex issues and communicate

  • Excellent analytical skills to analyze the business issues/challenges to support the right decision-making process

The salary range for this position is 152,000.00 - 190,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a variable incentive compensation bonus.
