Summary: Performs development engineering in support of contracted programs, B&P activities, and IRAD efforts. Assists in new business and follow-on activities. Independently applies a high degree of creative ability, engineering skill, and judgment in applying engineering principles in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, gas dynamics, mechanics, and thermodynamics to the design, development, qualification, and production of gas generators, pressurization systems, inflation systems and guidance systems.Initiates the design, development, execution and implementation of technology research projects. Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products. Plans and executes applied research. Major Position Responsibilities Conducts research and development activities for an organization or business unit Applies research theories, principles, and models when conducting experiments and research activities Summarizes research results and communicates findings to internal and external bodies Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures projects are on time and within budget Develops technical documentations for all projects Basic Qualifications Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree in general Engineering or specialized Engineering 5-7 years experience relevant to the positions functional area Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Chemical engineering Strongly prefer Master of Science Degree in Engineering and/or Ph.D. Degree Working understanding of basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts, with a working understanding of thermal and structural engineering concepts Ability to oversee other functional areas in the accomplishment of hardware, planning and test tasks Independently evaluate, select, and applied standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications for the solution to specific engineering problems Ability to translate general customer requirements into products, specific requirements and program elements Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong computer skills, administrative data control, scheduling and team interface Must be able to possess strong, planning, execution and multitasking skills and have demonstrated ability to re-prioritize on the fly Position requires a high degree of analytical aptitude with strong problem solving skills Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complex tasks Works under limited supervision Looks for ways to improve and promote quality Must be able to manage quickly changing priorities while meeting deadlines Works within the highest level of integrity, ethics and safety Operates under minimal direction and exerc
