Medical, dental vision, 401k and many other benefits are available without a waiting period. Summary: Initiates the design, development, execution and implementation of technology research projects. Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products. Plans and executes applied research. Applies engineering principles of fluid dynamics, gas dynamics, heat transfer, and aerodynamics to the solution and analysis of engineering problems. Applies research engineering theories, principles, and models when performing analysis. Summarizes analysis results and communicates findings to internal and external customers. Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to support the development of computational models. Utilizes commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to support the aerodynamic and thermal characterization to new and existing projectile and weapon systems across subsonic, transonic, and supersonic Mach regimes. Major Position Responsibilities Conducts research, design, and development activities with the goal of developing new or improved products, processes, or services. Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability. Applies research theories, principles, and models when conducting experiments and research activities. Conducts market research, tracks projects, builds spreadsheets evaluating trade space, designs presentation slides, and executes business-oriented tasks. Summarizes research results and communicates findings to internal and external bodies. Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures projects are on time and within budget. Develops technical documentation for all projects. Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings. Basic Qualifications Required Qualifications: Associate's degree and 3 - 5 years' experience required Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other closely related technical field Experience modeling and characterizing aerodyanmics with commercially available computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes such as STAR-CCM+, Fluent, or Metacomp CFD++. Experience with semi-empirical codes to predict aerodynamics such as MissileDatcom. Experience designing, running, and executing wind tunnel tests in support of aerodynamic characterization. Experience generating aerodynamic databases for integration into 3 and 6 degree-of-freedom performance models. Highly proficient with scripting languages such as Matlab or Python and some experience with block based modeling tools such as Simulink.
