The Purchasing Agent will source and purchase raw material, hardware, machined parts and components, packaging materials, tools, supplies and/or services necessary for the operation of an organization. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine supplier cost structure/cost analysis, feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. They will compile information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. They will confer with suppliers and analyze suppliers’ operations to determine lowest total cost of ownership. They will review proposals, negotiate prices, lead time, and MOQ/MPQ, payment terms and supplier defect chargebacks, select/recommend suppliers, analyze trends, order processing follow up, verify delivery, approve payment, expedite shipments, drive improvement in supplier performance and maintain necessary records. They may prepare bid packages.
The Purchasing Agent will report to the Supply Chain Manager of the facility.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Review and coordinate procurement activities for company and program PO/requisitions for parts and components, raw materials, packaging materials, hardware, machined parts, tools and supplies and other goods and services
Confer with suppliers for product or service price, availability, and delivery schedules, to include verification of supplier conformance to program drawing and specification requirements
Maintain manual and computerized procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality, performance, and inventory reports including support of internal performance metrics as required
Prepare and issue purchase orders and track supplier acceptance
Comply with all company procurement policies and procedures
Provide supplier status on POs as required
Maintain orderly reports including electronic filing systems
Work cooperatively as part of procurement team and with functional areas as required
In coordination with other functional areas, assist with data collection to determine procurement approach such as direct purchase or bid
May approve invoices for payment
May expedite delivery of goods to customers
May occasionally perform or lead special projects
Perform other duties as assigned
Good working knowledge of the procurement process and general customer/supplier interfacing principles
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite and Syteline/ESI Procurement module)
Good analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to professionally communication and work cooperatively with others

Willingness to learn, and as required to train others
3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level of Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
AA and/or PA of America Certificate preferred
