Pfizer Operational Excellence Manager in Bothell, Washington

Pfizer's North Creek Manufacturing Facility is clinical and commercial biologics manufacturing facility producing antibody and antibody drug conjugates for life-altering cancer treatments.

The North Creek facility is seeking a highly motivated Operational Excellence (OE) Manager that desires an opportunity to significantly contribute to the development and commercialization of transformative cancer therapies. The focus of this role is to support the facility by providing expertise in both Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to help enable the business to deliver on its commitments. As Operational Excellence Manager, you will drive value and impact by leading cross-functional, side-wide strategic initiatives that drive the business towards achieving high priority goals. As Integrated Manufacturing Excellence (IMEx) system site lead, you will be responsible in delivering support across all tiers of the organization for the successful IMEx deployment and sustained implementation. Training and mentoring of colleagues in Operational Excellence tools and techniques to enable problem solving across all levels of the organization is fundamental to the role. As a change agent, you will be responsible for promoting new ways of working to create an environment that is change agile, helping to drive the creation of a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and learning at all levels within the site. What You Will Achieve

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a team of process improvement professionals accountable for defining and leading the Continuous Improvement Program within Pfizer.

  • Responsible for advancing the functional use of Operational Excellence Tools across the site (5S, Six Sigma, etc.)

  • Deliver innovation solutions to sustainably drive continuous improvement at North Creek

  • Accountable for IMEx program sustainability while ensuring the site achieves the performance improvements needed to enable quality, on time supply to our patients

  • Develops an IMEx digital plan to support needs of site

  • Facilitates development and refresh of site Goals with Site Leadership team

  • Leads Site T3 Continuous Improvement loop

  • Sponsor and lead site based projects either within function or across functions in line with the site and/or network strategy

  • Share best practices and look for opportunities to replicate those from other sites.

  • Leverage your extensive knowledge of developing continuous improvement models, prioritizing initiatives, delivering large scale projects and building a sustainable Continuous Improvement Culture.

  • Challenge's self and others to Identify and suggest ways to improve bottlenecks, process inefficiencies and service deficiencies.

  • Establish and maintain performance metrics to measure program success.

  • Install process excellence support for program governance, project reviews, communications, training, certifications and rewards.

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

  • Applicant must have a Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience preferably in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing operation OR Master's degree with more than 2 years of experience preferably in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing operation, OR a PhD with 0 years of experience preferably in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing operation, OR Associate's degree with 8 years of experience preferably in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing operation, OR High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience preferably in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing operation.

  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Green Belt certification by a recognized third-party organization.

  • Knowledge/experience in Continuous Improvement (CI) programs and Change Management practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional processes and to meet established deadlines.

  • Excellent communication, coaching, organizational and interpersonal skills, specifically in the lean manufacturing and six-sigma space.

  • Ability to plan, implement and achieve complex goals and objectives in a matrix environment.

  • Strong people management skills.

  • Strong leadership skills necessary to engage, influence and motivate colleagues at all levels and across cultures in a global organization.

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements):

  • Expertise in statistical analysis and problem-solving techniques.

  • Project management and continuous improvement certifications (e.g., Agile, PMP, Black Belt Six Sigma, or similar). (Hiring Manager to specify, if needed).

  • Knowledge of Pfizer's IMEx Production System with an understanding of deployment and execution methodologies

  • Good working knowledge of the Bio/Pharmaceutical Industry including Operations, Quality, Technical, Supply Chain, Engineering and Regulatory aspects. Good working knowledge of cGMP.

  • Able to don cleanroom gowning to access manufacturing area

Non-Standard work schedule, travel or environment requirements

  • Work Location Assignment: Flexible colleagues are assigned a Pfizer site within a commutable distance where they work about 2-3 days weekly to connect and innovate with their team face-to-face. However, they also benefit from being able to work offsite regularly when it makes business sense to do so.

  • Work schedule may include off shift hours as appropriate

  • Limited travel, no more than 10%

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $96,300.00 to $160,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
