We are seeking a Hydrographer at our Bothell, WA location to support our marine services, offshore energy, river restoration and remediation businesses. Our personnel specialize in the acquisition of bathymetric, topographic, geophysical and oceanographic data and environmental sampling throughout the United States and internationally. Work locations include inland lakes and rivers, ports and harbors and near coastal and offshore sites in support of our public, government and private clients. We conduct surveying and field investigations for remediation and restoration planning, underwater mapping, engineering evaluations including detailed underwater infrastructure assessments for submarine cables and pipelines, dredging, habitat investigations, oceanographic studies, and hydroelectric dam assessments. Responsibilities: Perform and assist with topographic, hydrographic and geophysical survey planning, field data collection, interpretation and reporting. Setup, operate and troubleshoot surveying system hardware, computers, software, and cabling. Work aboard boats from 12-250 feet in length, domestically and internationally. Setup and operate static and RTK GPS receivers and process and perform QC on the data. Collect and process multibeam (MBES) and/or single beam echosounder data . Perform field topographic, scientific or engineering surveys using GPS and/or Total Station. Utilize AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D or ArcGIS to produce maps, charts and alignment sheets. Understand geodesy, survey and tidal datum, establish and recover survey control. Develop and follow plans, specifications, SOPs, procedures and promote safe work practices. Be self-motivated, hardworking, ethical, trustworthy and dependable. Have strong analytical and communication skills and strong desire to learn and do new things. Be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Travel for domestic and foreign work, 30% of the year, assignments are required. Ability to work in the field in inclement weather as well as offshore for weeks at a time is required. Physical ability to load/unload equipment (lifting 50 lbs.), walk safely over rugged terrain and up/down ships ladders is required. Qualifications: An Associate degree or Certification or License in Land or Hydrographic Surveying with 5 years' experience (required) A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geodesy, Geomatics, Oceanography, Marine Geology, with 3-5 years' direct experience in either Land or Hydrographic Surveying (required) Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) desired; or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) preferred. The ideal candidate will have more than 5 years of field experience as a Survey Technician, Oceanographic Technician, Survey Party Chief, or Hydrographic Surveyor and will be a licensed professional land surveyor. Land surveyors should have a strong desire to become proficient hydrographic surveyors. Experience working on small boats and large vessels desired but not required.
