Robert Half is seeking a News / Copy Editor for a direct-hire opportunity in Greater Seattle. The position involves producing quality, engaging, and timely content for a digital platform. The Copy Editor will be a crucial part of a small team, responsible for creating breaking news, feature articles, and trend pieces, utilizing data analytics, industry interviews, and market research.

Title: News Editor (Copy Editor)

Location: Bothell (4 days onsite, 1 day remote) – Parking Provided

Schedule: M-F, Business hours (40 hours)

Employment Type: Direct Hire (not a contract)

Target Salary Range: $67-80k a year based on experience

Software/tech required: Computer provided, must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities:

• Writing news stories on the website and the newsletter for a paid platform. They have a small team and are looking for an additional contributor.

• Types of deliverables: short articles, press release, and proprietary reporting, talking to sources and longer form deep dives

• 80% news writing, 20% writing or editing for magazine – editing, contributing author content or short features

• Focused on the journalism piece of it, does not need to know WordPress or web content strategy or SEO, but a lovely nice to have

  Requirements

Must Have Skills/ Experience:

• writing for business, finance media – is ok with business news, stocks or bonds, insurance markets, real estate

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
