Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, the Chief of Staff will operate at strategic, operational, and tactical levels to enhance the effectiveness of the Technical Operations & Process Sciences organization. In this role, you will ensure that the CTO and the TOPS leadership team are spending their time effectively to achieve the strategic objectives of the organization. They will be responsible for thought leadership and lead the development and delivery of a variety of strategic projects by playing a critical role in enabling strategy execution, communication, and collaboration across the TOPS organization. Further, you will work closely with Technical Operations core and extended leadership teams in driving the rhythm of the business. In this context, you will be expected to think holistically and strategically about all aspects of business operations, key operational rhythms, business processes, procedures and enable effective execution. In addition, you will be focused on continuous improvement and operational effectiveness by using your insights and expertise to proactively identify issues which might impede business success and implementing appropriate and timely mitigation plans

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a strategic thought partner to the CTO, and the TOPS Leadership Team, giving input with regard to, current and future initiatives, strategic imperatives, cross-functional program portfolio management, human capital and organizational budgets to ensure optimal operating environment

  • Supports CTO’s efforts to foster cohesion amongst TOLT members. Connect the dots across the functional heads for improved alignment and engagement

  • Ensures CTO is informed and well prepared for all meetings and calls, including gathering information, providing advice, and synthesizing feedback from others

  • Documents and maintains for the CTO’s use a business planning cycle document which includes business planning timelines related to governance meetings, operational/financial reviews, talent review, etc.

  • Leads and/or guides key non-project, TOPS initiatives including development of business continuity plans, risk mitigation and support strategies

  • Looks across TOPS functions to identify synergies and interdependencies to ensure optimal working model across all sites and functions. Builds decision-making frameworks, playbooks, templates and provides decision support by working with TOLT members to distill and organize recommendations for CTO approval (anticipate requests for additional information, support with additional research or information analysis and surface key takeaways)

  • Organizes, plans and chairs the periodic TOPS Leadership Team meetings. Drives the agenda and the objectives of the topics placed on the agenda, conducts pre-meetings so that decisions are properly framed and as many points as possible are pre-negotiated

  • Plans and directs the successful execution of the bi-annual “TOPS Forums

  • Monitors progress toward delivery of TOPS strategic imperatives, intervening as necessary to ensure that the organization is on track to meet or exceed its performance targets. Provides insight in evaluating overall TOPS performance over time and for future planning

  • Helps establish broader TOPS community with other key functions and departments. Drives an agenda of collaboration and contribute to creating and communicating an employment culture and values which attract, retain, and develop the most effective people

  • In partnership with Corporate Communications, prepare presentations for the CTO for various forums, including internal townhalls and external speaking engagements. Review internal company communications to assure they align with the CTO’s and stakeholders’ expectations

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable SeaGen’s SOPs, local and international regulations, and industry best-practice

  • Establishes and maintains strategic communications and planning with key SGEN stakeholders and maintains close coordination with cross-functional Chief of Staffs within SGEN

  • Maintains complete confidentiality on all matters classified, including business or matters related to personnel decisions or actions


  • 15+ years of within the biopharmaceutical industry, with specific focus on operations, business management and financials

  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive leadership on complex business topics
