Summary:

The Computational Biology (CB) group collaborates with colleagues from Research and across the company to develop and evaluate targeted therapies for fighting cancer. This position contributes to the CB mission to support an increasing departmental focus on data-heavy decision-making.Principal Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain and enhance tools for the democratization of NGS (next-generation sequencing) and other data important for Research drug discovery efforts

  • Work independently and with the CB team and additional groups within Research, Translational Sciences and Clinical Development to identify new data sets of interest and create user requirements for tools providing access to those datasets

  • Work independently and with the CB team to analyze Research data and model its features to support all aspects of the drug development cycle

  • Communicate results to Research stakeholders

  • Design/build-out data processing pipeline infrastructure for new datatypes such as scRNA-seq

  • Help guide and formulate long-term CB strategy for Research data democratization

  • Lead and champion CB change-management, source control and application deployment efforts

  • Partner with Research stakeholders to perform customized data analysis

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in bioinformatics, computer science, biostatistics, genomics or related field

  • 3+ years industry experience in bioinformatics analysis and applications development

  • 3+ years expert programming in R, RShiny and Python

  • 3+ years web-based application development, including, specifically, RShiny

  • Change-management, source control and application deployment (virtual and bare metal), including git and docker

  • Strong familiarity with ‘omics data, analysis, and applications, including RNA-seq, DNA-seq, etc.

  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated applications of modern data science techniques, and proficiency using statistical analysis software or libraries such as R or Matlab

  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (Spotfire, Tableau, R, Python)

  • Excellent organization with attention to complete, readable documentation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Commitment to collaboration and ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background with molecular biology, genomics, or immunology a plus
