Business Unit Overview

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Plant Manager is the senior leader of the manufacturing site. This role directs and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for safety, quality, production, maintenance, and warehousing. To be successful in this role, a qualified candidate will need to effectively drive safety initiatives, identify and execute on continuous improvement initiatives, develop people, set clear objectives/expectations, and manage costs to ensure the greatest return for the business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership of plant operations inclusive of safety, quality, maintenance and engineering, shipping and receiving. Develop annual plan and insure delivery of the same as well as all Key Performance Indicators. Drive continuous improvement of quality performance, operational efficiencies and waste reduction through Lean manufacturing principles. In partnership with executive leadership, develop, design, plan, budget, and implement capital projects to improve throughput, quality, and safety. Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, and Operations to develop and execute plans for the introduction of new product offerings. Ensure appropriate leadership and guidance is provided for department management team regarding people functions for the facility, including: employee safety, organizational design, talent selection, employee development, performance management, labor relations, and policy / regulatory compliance. Responsible for taking necessary action on all food safety and quality problems reported or observed. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management, or related field, along with 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing leadership position. Demonstrated team leadership experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment. Proficient in forecasting, developing budgets, and developing metrics. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

Nut Butter manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Previous experience with implementing behavior-based safety programs. Demonstrated strategic planning experience. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills, including experience managing multiple high-priorities simultaneously. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: Must be able to sit for 6+ hours per shift. Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, stand, stoop, and walk for 3+ hours per shift. Must be able to reach above shoulders, climb, and work off ladder for 3+ hours per shift. Must be able to work in dusty, hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment. Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation for 6+ hours per shift. Must be able to push, pull, and feel for 3+ hours per shift. Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds for up to 3 hours per shift. Must be able to wear a respirator. Must be able to express or exchange ideas by spoken or written word. Must be able to distinguish objects or equipment visually.
