Description

PeaceHealth is seeking a Transporter - Patient Transport for a Part Time, 0.50 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $18.12 – $27.16. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, supplies, specimens and equipment through the facility.

Essential Functions

  • Transport patients by schedule and on request utilizing escort or wheeled transport equipment.

  • Transport materials such as supplies, specimens, records, linen, trash, confidential documents and equipment.

  • May be responsible for conference room set-up including equipment and patient care equipment transfers.

  • May clean wheeled transport equipment as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent

Experience

  • Preferred: Entry level position. Prior patient care experience and

  • Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs

Credentials

  • May be required : Drivers License

Skills

  • Good customer service skills. (Required)

  • Good interpersonal skills. (Required)

  • Basic computer skills. (Required)

St. Joseph Medical Center:

  • BLS and required upon hire.

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment (i.e. stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.).

  • Frequent reaching/ grasping.

  • Occasional bending/ stooping.

  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 25 lbs. force. Occasional up to 50 lbs. force.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
