Haskell Corporation Structural Shop Estimator/Project Manager in Bellingham, Washington

A Project Manager's responsibility is to oversee the project execution from, design review, detailing, fabrication, installation, and project close out. This position requires the ideal candidate to possess excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills. In addition, this position requires interaction with clients, field personnel, detailers, subcontractors, and the project team during all stages of the project. It also requires familiarity with AISC and ASTM requirements. Knowledge of project management skills including scheduling, drawing submittals, change orders submittals, initiating RFI's, budgeting of projects, submitting pay applications, project coordination and planning is entailed. Candidates should possess the ability to manage multiple projects of various sizes and levels of complexity.

As an Experienced Structural Steel Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our project development process by accurately estimating the cost and materials required for structural steel projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel estimating or related roles.

Essential Functions:

  • Review contract, design drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Provide purchasing agent with material lists for mill or warehouse orders.
  • Generation of RFI's, Change Orders.
  • Create schedule of values.
  • Evaluate project for potential cost impacts or savings.
  • Develop project schedule by inputting scope, hours and durations into scheduling software. Update your team, customers, and schedule on a daily or as needed basis.
  • Coordinate shop drawings with the detailer.
  • Ensure timely shop drawing submittals and approvals.

``` - Generation of project budgets into job costing software. - Review instructions and proposal specifications, drawings, technical data, and welding processes necessary to estimate the work. - Prepare full-scope estimates on small, medium, and large-scale projects, in a timely and accurate manner. - Ensure all documentation is maintained to support estimate figures. - Ensure you secure the best possible material and subcontracting costs. - Perform additional responsibilities as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Construction Management, or related area preferred.
  • 3+ years' experience in cost estimating and cost control in the structural/miscellaneous steel fields.
  • Strong knowledge of estimating techniques, engineering disciplines, and cost control techniques.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and good organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • A working knowledge of Tekla EPM estimating software is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong understanding of construction practices.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Great attitude.
