About the PositionCompass 2 Campus is a university-wide initiative to create a pipeline for students in grades 5-12 to attend college. The Program Specialist has a wide scope of complex duties and responsibilities including: program management; public information; personnel administration and supervision; and coordination of activities and personnel with other units on campus and in P-12 schools in support of the program.

Required Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in related field or program.

• Minimum of 2 years of increasing responsible professional experience.

• Experience working with P-12 school personnel.

• Experience working with the public and speaking in public.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated competence working in an electronic environment, including databases.

• Demonstrated skills to work in a collaborative environment and in team building.

• Knowledge of and skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

• Enjoy working with college-age students.

• Passion for public education and role of teaching and teachers in our society.

• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.

• Ability to problem solve and interact with all constituents in a professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications• Experience in P-12 schools or other school setting.

• Experience in higher education.

• Experience working with administrative systems used by WWU (e.g. PageUp, Banner, Millennium FAST Finance)

• Experience with administrative and financial policies and procedures in an academic setting (P-12 or Higher Ed)

• Supervisory experience

Salary

$23.87 - $32.12/hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Bargaining Unit TemporaryThis position is covered by a Public School Employees bargaining union. New employees are eligible for membership under the current collective bargaining agreement at 350 hours of employment.
