Whatcom Community College Program Coordinator for TRIO Projects in BELLINGHAM, Washington

Whatcom Community College invites applications for the Program Coordinator for TRIO Projects (Class Code 107N) position. The TRIO Student Support Services program and the TRIO Upward Bound program seek to increase the college matriculation, retention, graduation, and university transfer rates of students who are income-eligible, the first in their family to attend college, or who have a disability. Reporting to the Director for TRIO Upward Bound and TRIO Student Support Services, the Program Coordinator works closely with TRIO team members to support the recruitment of eligible students from partner high schools and Whatcom Community College. The Program Coordinator also provides logistical support for TRIO programming, including an intensive six-week summer program for Upward Bound.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

Programming: 

  • Assist with planning and executing programming, including guest speakers, workshops, and field trips to colleges, universities, and cultural events.
  • Create promotional materials for TRIO activities.
  • Support the recruitment of program participants.
  • Conduct outreach to TRIO participants to support retention and graduation.

Administrative: 

  • Update Student Support Services and Upward Bound student databases to reflect admission of new program participants and students engagement with TRIO services.
  • Support the TRIO Directors in preparing and submitting Annual Performance Reports.
  • Monitor progress toward program objectives and produce reports as needed.
  • Complete project purchases and maintain budget documents in alignment with program rules and regulations.
  • Ensure proper functioning of TRIO resources in the CANVAS learning management system.
  • Complete WCC's web training and make updates to the TRIO Student Support Services and Upward Bound websites.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High graduation or equivalent.

and

  • Two years of experience in the program specialty.

or

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or associate degree.
  • Experience participating in or working for TRIO Student Support Services, Upward Bound or similar student support programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow purchasing procedures and assist with tracking budgets.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish). 
Salary

Salary:

  • This is a 12-month, grant funded, full-time classified position with likely extension contingent on continuation of grant funding. Range 40, full-time salary starting at Step C $3,643.00 per month with periodic increments to $4,517.00 per month.

  • The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan. 
  • Accrues 8 hours per month of sick leave and 11.33 hours per month vacation leave with periodic vacation accrual increases based on longevity.
