Position Description

Position Summary

The Field Operations Manager (FOM) reports to the President and will serve as an advocate, resource, and leader for our superintendents, foremen, and crews. The FOM will oversee field training, development, communication, allocation of resources, and implementation of best practices. The FOM will also work with division leaders to assemble project teams and ensure field teams are supported with the training, development, and resources they need to perform their work. The FOM will build relationships with field personnel, working to develop mutual trust and respect.

 

Essential Functions & Primary Job Responsibilities:

Safety/Quality: Safety Manager Direct Report

  • Responsible for effective management and execution of company safety/quality plans
  • Ensure projects are set up to successfully execute safety/quality
  • Work with and support Safety Manager in managing risks throughout the company
  • Firm understanding of QA/QC and able to train team members on company QA/QC program
  • Manage and report leading indicators for both Safety and Quality
  • Identify high risk activities and project situations, and participate in solutions

Field Leadership Responsibilities: General Superintendent Direct Report

  • Personnel
  • Attract and hire new team members
  • Training and development
  • Appropriate staffing of projects
  • Project support
  • Participate in project kick offs
  • Participate in reviewing readiness of projects
  • Bidding and preconstruction: participate in project pursuits
  • Logistics plans
  • Schedule development: Ability to create and review schedule, recognize when a project is behind, and take steps to correct
  • Project plans
  • Help project leaders develop and implement the project plan
  • Provide means and methods input on bids and construction
  • Ability to walk a jobsite, identify challenges and provide solutions
  • Demonstrates a dedication to successful delivery of projects for our clients and partners through planning, team building, anticipation of challenges, ensuring resources are provided, and flexibility to address specific project team needs

Process and Best Practice Steward

  • Development (and implementation) of best practices for all operational processes:
  • I.e. Labor management, schedules, estimating, bidding, etc.
  • Identify, document, organize and standardize best practices
  • Develop and deliver training of best practices
  • Research construction trends and network with peers to keep Dawson current & competitive
