PeaceHealth is seeking a Electrophysiology Technologist Lead for a Part Time, 0.88 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $51.34 – $77.07. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functions for assigned area. Assists with ensuring that departmental goals are achieved, timelines met, and service excellence provided in all aspects of work. Subject matter expert. Works within the scope of the Electrophysiology Technologist to provide individualized, safe and efficient patient care. Works collaboratively with all other healthcare team members toward the best outcomes for the patient and the organization. Performs invasive procedures in concert with a cardiologist or a radiologist.

Essential Functions

  • Assigns work for the EP lab; plans and manages priorities, provides technical assistance, oversees staff schedules, monitors quality of work, monitors team projects, mentors staff, provides constructive feedback, oversees staff training, ensures quality improvement, provides leadership feedback on staff performance, and assists with goal setting for the team.

  • Assess and implement patient care within scope of education and/or licensure in concert with Cardiologist or Radiologist.

  • Provide direct patient care. Performs related radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging techniques to demonstrate catheter location, position and document findings.

  • Assists the physician to position, manipulate and prepare catheters and guide wires prior to and during the procedures.

  • Document patient care in health record according to department standards.

  • Prepares and maintains sterile field, monitors and records patient condition and procedures progress.

  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through continued education and professional development.

  • Provide patient education and instruction prior to and after examination.

  • Provides/organizes education and training to staff and students on EP related topics in staff meetings, and in the EP lab. Assists in development of competencies for EP staff.

  • Initiates investigation of incidents when immediate action is required; otherwise refers for further evaluation to department leadership.

  • Conducts examinations for diagnostic interpretation, evaluates procedures, and makes recommendations for improvement. Integrates previous imaging studies, laboratory results, patient history and medical records to optimize exam. Evaluates patient information for potential risk factors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Accredited Program Required: Cardiovascular or

  • Accredited Program Required: Radiologic Technology. or a combination of education and experience that provides the incumbent with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years Required: Previous experience with clinical electrophysiology and

  • Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs and

  • Required: Experience and demonstrated ability to adapt exam to address problems of patient care as they arise making decisions to appropriately resolve problems and

  • Minimum of 2 years Required: CVTs with only on-the-job training must have a minimum of two years of interventional cardiovascular hospital experience

Credentials

  • Required: ARRT - Radiography or

  • Required: Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist or

  • Required: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or

  • Required: Certified Electrophysiology Specialist and

  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support and

  • Required within 6 months: Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Required)

  • Computer experience (Required)

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills (Required)

  • Must have complete understanding of vascular and related organ anatomy. (Required)

  • Must be able to monitor patient blood pressure, ECG, and Pulse Oximetry using sophisticated clinical equipment. (Required)

  • Must be able to perform work during periods of crisis and emergency situations. Requires after hours call duty as assigned. (Required)

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.

  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

  • Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.

  • Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.

  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
