You may learn more about our organization, mission, and vision here: . Whatcom Community Detox provides a monitored setting for the safe withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs. The detoxification is provided in a sub-acute (non-medical) unit where intensive medical monitoring is not required. In addition to stabilization and safety, the goal of these services is to assess people's mental health and substance use disorder-related needs and help them access the services they need to recover. POSITION SUMMARY The Detox Treatment Specialist is responsible for providing quality services to all clients including assessing somatic conditions, delivering medications according to procedure, and creating a favorable group climate for the effective treatment of each client. The Detox Treatment Specialist is responsible for providing physical care, social and moral support and in collaboration with other staff, shall be responsible for implementing programming. The Detox Treatment Specialist is responsible for providing high quality services under the least restrictive conditions feasible. POSITION DUTIES & TASKS Client Services Completes admission, discharge, and health care assessments in accordance with program policy and protocols. Monitors client's vital signs as well as monitoring for symptoms of withdrawal. Administers first aid. Responds to emergency situations and provides intervention in accordance with program protocols. Interprets and explains program policy to each client. Assists clients with access to detoxification, treatment, and other support services. Documents observations of behaviors, physical signs and symptoms and psychological needs, medication delivery, ongoing health assessment needs and pertinent health and safety issues in each client file according to program policy. Communication & Teamwork Attendance at shift/staff meetings and active participation in planning, coordination and communication of all types, which will contribute to the delivery of quality professional services. Assists and consults with other healthcare providers as needed. Assists other support providers, e.g., police, EMT's, and ambulance personnel as needed. Integrates knowledge by thinking through and planning the most professional, therapeutic reaction or intervention in any given client care situation. Provides written and documentation of observations in the shift log and in accordance with program policy and procedure. Provides a safe and healthy environment which includes maintaining, cleaning, and disposal of equipment and supplies according to policy and procedures. Stocks supplies, serves meals, cleans client areas, makes beds, and takes inventories of supplies needed as directed. Quality Assurance Maintains quality of care consistent with or exceeding standards set by State of Washington regulations, and any other accrediting and/or contracting bodies with whom Pioneer Human Services may be contractually or otherwise committed to in so far as the delivery of services are concerned. Assists in the development of treatment methodologies and educational offerings in accordance with client needs as determined by Program Manager. Adheres to professional and ethical standards for Chemical Dependency Professionals and organizations. Participates in data gathering activities as directed. Follows all policies and procedures ensuring personal and client safety. Training & Development Actively participates in agency supervision. Completes all training required by Pioneer Human Services and in accordance with annual training plan.
