Matrix Service Civil Superintendent in Bellingham, Washington

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Civil Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the applicable discipline. Supervises and directs craft, craft supervisors and others including Subcontractors, as assigned. Reports to the Regional Construction Manager for daily scheduled work priorities, coordination between other disciplines and assigned specific tasks. Supervises the development of estimates, budgets and schedules, manages performance, reports progress, and initiates action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specifications. Resolves problems and coordinates the final turnover of work to downstream work activities. Provides leadership for the development and maintenance of a high-performance project team.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Represent the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics”.
Estimate, plan and supervise craft activities. Determining method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked.
Supervises and/or directs craft activities, including scheduling work to be performed and review work accomplished by each craft
Maintain liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedule.
Manage customer relationship and interface with customer personnel including safety, quality and productivity reporting as required.
Assist in resolving construction problems and safety issues as required.
Conducts accident investigations with safety department as required.
Assist the Human Resource Department in maintaining communications to resolving personnel issues of requisitioning required manpower.
Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
Monitor craft compliance relative to apprenticeship requirements and quality assurance requirements.
Conducts field safety audits as required.
Maintain liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Assist in the development and review of the project task list, resource requirements, project execution plans and overall construction/maintenance.
Good communication skills both verbal and with a computer.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
5-8 years’ experience as a Superintendent, General Foreman or similar supervisory role in the industrial construction industry.
Proven experience in industrial construction and civil projects, preferably in site development industry.
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction techniques, and industry best practices.
Deep understanding of safety regulations incl. trench safety, environmental practices, and quality control processes in the industrial construction industry.
Demonstrated leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and manage a diverse workforce.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Proficient in MS Office, project management software, and other relevant applications.
Possess a valid driver license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
Willingness to travel to an area within commutable distance of the project sites and/or office location.
Must possess knowledge and have a good understanding of Company policies and Complete Company’s Safety training, Process Safety Management training and client/Site specific training.
Verification of 8,000 craft related hours. Graduated journeyperson status Required.
Washington law requires pay information in job postings. The typical hiring range for this position in Washington is shown below. The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of this range, and in certain circumstances, may fall outside the listed hiring range.
Hiring range: $51.00 to $69.00 per hour
Full range for this position, available over time: $51.00 to $72.00 per hour
