The Salvation Army Northwest Division Youth Program Aide in Bellevue, Washington

Description Unit: Eastside Corps DEPARTMENT: YOUTH DEPARTMENT POSITION TITLE: YOUTH PROGRAM AIDE STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt SCOPE OF POSITION: The Youth Program Aide will primarily support the Business Manager in implementing the youth programing for Eastside Corps and Community Center. This position will require a "ministry mindset" and an evangelistic approach to children's and youth ministry. The biggest responsibility of the Youth Program Aide is helping facilitate the youth programs at the Eastside Corps and Community Center (i.e. after school programs, VBS, open gym nights, family nights, etc.). POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age High School Diploma or GED is required. College degree or experience preferred. Minimum of 1 year of experience in one or more of the following fields: youth work, programming, teen development, etc. A valid First Aid CPR/AED certificate A valid Washington driver's license Must pass background check and Motor Vehicle Record Check KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Team player This person must have a passion for the spiritual mission of The Salvation Army and be comfortable sharing the news of Jesus Christ with others. This person must be able to promote team ministry and be willing to work with others to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Eastside Salvation Army ministry. This person must be able to demonstrate strong Christian values in their approach to work and service within The Salvation Army. It is expected that the person will be able to demonstrate the following characteristics in relation to their assigned duties: creativity, self-motivation, responsibility, accountability, flexibility, good people skills, detail oriented, be a team player and maintain a high level of personal integrity. Ability and willingness to keep information confidential Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with staff and clients from a variety of racial, cultural, economic and religious backgrounds Ability to lead and mentor the youth that come to the Eastside programming Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication (Spelling - 90% Grammar - 85%) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure Customer service mindset SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS: Microsoft Word and Excel required Microsoft PowerPoint, helpful ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in facilitating the after-school program, which includes: Programming (Classes, Youth Night, Family Night) Snacks & Other Food Assemblies/Chapel Meetings Signing in and checking out students ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (CONT): Assist as needed in the implementation of programs such as: Troops, YPL (Teen) Nights, VBS, Day Camp, Bible Studies, etc. Maintain Department Logs Create physical files as needed Provide administrative support to department head All other duties as assigned PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead Ability to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Ability to lift 20 lbs. (usually file boxes) repetitively and occasionally an item up to 40 lbs Ability to operate a motor vehicle Ability to travel Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
