Microsoft Corporation US Marketing & Operations Surface Business Manager in Bellevue, Washington

The US Marketing & Operations Surface team is looking for an experienced Business Manager to join our team. Do you get excited about working in a fast-paced, but collaborative environment? Are you a proactive and fast, agile thinker? The US Surface team is looking for a Business Manager to drive the rhythm of the business, communications, and strategic projects.

Reporting directly to the GM, the Business Manager will act as the GM’s right arm, responsible for organizational planning and business review rhythms, business process and measurement and ownership of team financials, budget planning and forecasting. The Business Manager also plays a key role in organizational communications and workgroup health initiatives, drives cross group collaboration and accountability, serves as a strategic resource for business reviews and planning meetings, and is a trusted advisor to managers within the group.


  • Own and orchestrate the rhythm of the team’s business. Ensure the team is engaged in the regular rhythm of the WW Surface Business Group and the WW Commercial Business team by orchestrating regular reviews of key priorities and programs, distilling information, and unifying our US plans into a cohesive story.

  • Lead and orchestrate all annual strategic planning activities, including quarterly & monthly business reviews (with WW and within the US)

  • Develop and orchestrate the US Surface communication plan, ensuring all key constituents are informed of launch, business and key initiatives.

  • Ensure the GM is prepared for internal and external meetings and presentations.

  • Own management of team financials: revenue planning and forecasting, marketing budget and OPEX. Lead and orchestrate team activities to interlock with the US Sub’s rhythms around these areas.

  • Be ready to take, own, and incubate new special projects critical to the business, then operationalize and integrate into the team.

  • Partner with GM and the team to identify and capitalize on key growth opportunity areas, ensuring the team is making the right bets, allocating resources appropriately and measuring/tracking results.

  • Work closely with GM and HR to develop and execute a workgroup health action plan; to facilitate a growth mindset culture where strategy gets debated, metrics and milestones are set, decisions get made, execution gets tracked and results are delivered.

  • Proxy for the general manager and represent the team at key meetings.


  • Qualified candidates should have 5+ years of related experience in finance, marketing, communications or business development, preferably in the software industry.

  • Detail oriented & thorough, with ability to think “big picture” and understand the key trends and levers that drive Microsoft’s Surface business.

  • Working knowledge and familiarity of rhythm of the business process, MS Sales and/or other financial and business operations tools.

  • Collaborative, positive, proactive, tenacious, “can-do” disposition.

  • Outstanding organization, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.

  • BS/BA degree and/or MBA preferred.
