System One is seeking a System Design Engineer, Fluids Analysis who is focused on system design, analysis, systems engineering, and engineering oversight. In this role, you will act as a system design engineer for our client’s advanced nuclear reactor projects. The successful candidate will integrate and coordinate with engineers working on interfacing systems. The System Design Engineer will work as part of a high-performing team of engineers and scientists.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain internal flow and heat and mass transfer models of fluid systems and components.

• Perform both steady-state and transient analysis for nominal and off nominal operations and events.

• Provide input to system design and component selection.

• Author trade studies based on analysis results to guide system design configurations.

• Support system design reviews as plant system designs are established and refined.

• Assist in developing test plans and review parameters used in development and verification testing.

• Provide input to establish and maintain system requirements and specification documents, such as Engineering Design Specifications for major plant equipment.

• Interface with the design team to create and manage drawing packages of system designs, including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings.

• Propose testing programs for plant system, equipment, and component qualification, as needed.

  Key Qualifications and Skills

• B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university (https://terrapower.recruiterbox.com/app/) and 5+ years direct experience with proven mechanical systems skills.

• Experience with heat and mass transfer calculations/modeling.

• Experience with 1D fluid analysis for steady state operation and transient events.

• Experience with 1D fluid system modeling software (Flownex, AFT, Flomaster, etc.)

• Experience with high-performance fluid system, equipment, and component design.

• Experience designing highly reliable and fault tolerant fluid systems.

• Experience with multi-discipline integration.

• Familiar with piping design, fluid component selection, materials selection, and application of control system theory.

• Attention to detail and aspiration for technical excellence.

• Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.

• Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate with minimal direction.

• Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.

• Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1, AS 9100, ISO 9001, or equivalent.

• The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, able to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

• Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.

  Hourly Rate: $85-$125
