As a Senior Software Engineer, you will tackle our most complex challenges, building high-quality, architecturally sound systems that align with our business needs and propel us forward. You'll translate business needs into workable technology solutions, collaborating closely with product managers, marketing, UX, and engineering teams to deliver innovative products that delight our customers. Your expertise will be both deep and broad, allowing you to produce detailed technical work, high-level architectural designs, and groundbreaking solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible.

You will ensure our team leverage the right AWS tech stacks and methodologies to build highly performant, scalable systems that fit our fast growing business's scale. Additionally, your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking a long-term, visionary approach to architecture, proactively identifying and addressing deficiencies, and proposing innovative projects and mechanisms that drive transformative change for our business.

  • Bringing invaluable perspective and context to guide future technology choices, ensuring we remain the balance between the forefront of innovation and the cost efficiency on behalf of our customers .

  • Exerting technical influence within and beyond our team, proactively coaching team members, increasing their contributions by sharing your knowledge, experience, and passion for excellence, and establishing strategic collaboration across organizations to drive innovation.

  • Translating complex business needs into elegant, workable technology solutions that drive customer value and business growth.

  • Leveraging your expertise in Gen AI builder experience to build cutting-edge tools and services that leverages the power of AWS's AI capabilities.

  • Attending routine and critical meetings in Asia time friendly hours ( After 5PM Pacific Time).

  • Traveling domestically and globally up to 25%.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • 5+ years of experience developing and supporting serverless applications on AWS, with a deep understanding of AWS's offerings

  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux, C++ or Java, object-oriented and service- oriented Architecture

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

  • Experience in building scalable systems based on web services

  • Experience establishing metrics for measurement of engineering and operational excellence

  • Extensive experience in delivering secure and highly-available content, with proficiency for serverless and containerized workloads

  • Proven experience in developing backend services (applications for Android and iOS is a plus), and software development using a variety of modern programming languages (Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Objective C, Python) and open-source technologies (Linux, SQLite, OpenGL, etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams

  • Master's degree or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering

  • Extensive experience in delivering cloud-based services, using AWS infrastructure, tools, and products

  • Expertise in one or more of the following: Serverless, Containers, IoT, Big Data Solutions, Security, Databases, and DevOps.

  • Strong working knowledge of AI/ML algorithms, tools, and methodologies, with AWS AI/ML certification or relevant cloud expertise

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
