Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Have you wanted an opportunity to define security policies for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Kuiper Security team leads governance and defines security policies for Project Kuiper's technology, systems, and infrastructure.

The Kuiper Security team drives the research & development, deployment and operations of several mission-critical security systems for the Kuiper constellation end-to-end. You will work in a start-up like culture to help instill security in the organization more broadly. This role is at the forefront of delivering highly secure space and terrestrial broadband telecommunication services for consumer, enterprise, telecom, transportation and government customers around the world.

The Sr. Security Specialist will establish governance programs and define cyber and information security policies. The successful candidate will be a hands-on Security expert with extensive background in ITAR & EAR security as well as common regulatory and legal standards. In this role they will influence stakeholders and subject matter experts to manage policies throughout Project Kuiper's life cycle.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Establish a Kuiper Security policy program to manage policies throughout their lifecycle

  • Translate existing policies from multiple sources into clear, concise, and polished Kuiper security policy.

  • Provide business specific interpretations of Kuiper security policies

  • Develop and maintain reference materials including policies, standard operating procedures, and guidelines

  • Translate and align government policies and emerging regulations into company policies.

  • Engage with stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure compliance with information security policies

A day in the life

  • Research existing Amazon and AWS policies, determine what can be leveraged through the policies, and write new Kuiper policy content that will bridge the gap between the organizations

  • Independently gather information from various subject matter experts across security, legal, regulatory, privacy, and compliance departments to develop, organize, and write policies

  • Design policies to uphold ITAR & EAR security, regulatory, and legal standards, to allow for easy delineation of data classifications and consumption by end users

  • Manage policy life cycle including exceptions, updates and stakeholder management

Basic Qualifications

*5+ years industry experience in Security governance and policy management

*7+ years of working directly with engineering teams.

*Previous experience writing policy and documenting procedural materials

Preferred Qualifications

*7+ years experience in Security governance and policy management.

*Expert understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC)

*Familiar with supply chain logistics industry

*Experience with ISO 27001 or NIST 800-53.

*Previous software development experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
