Amazon Global Procurement Technology is seeking an experienced Sr. Product Manager (Technical) to envision, define and deliver Amazon's complex end to end Indirect Supply Chain technology solutions. This role will be responsible for identifying and partnering with internal business leaders and users to identify the most impactful business needs where technology solutions can deliver worldwide customer value. Partnering with internal customers, cross-organizational technology teams and third party software vendors to identify, recommend and plan global scale business solutions, the successful candidate will bring clarity to ambiguous problems while collaborating with Program Managers and Engineers to plan and deliver impactful technology solutions.

Developing 1-3 year strategies and product roadmaps, decomposing releases into prioritized feature-sets, analyzing and recommending best-fit solutions across internal and external software offerings and identifying opportunities to integrate systems into a unified customer experience, the GPT Sr. PM-T has the opportunity to drive innovation and measurable business results on a global scale.

Given the breadth of the technology solutions we develop and integrate, this role will require coordination across internal and external Amazon teams as well as third party vendors. You’ll work with customers, partners, and business stakeholders to align prioritized features with engineering solutions that deliver the most value and customer satisfaction. You will partner with business Directors and VP's as well as GPT Program Management and Engineering teams to define new capabilities and solutions through expertly crafted narratives, business requirements, market analysis, recommendations, and prioritized road maps, while driving clarity for business partners and engineers alike.

Successful applicants will have experience aligning product roadmaps that impact measured business value (KPIs), developing product strategies, forming business sponsor, governance groups and user focus groups, detailing functional and technical requirements, crafting solution recommendations, facilitating business and technical meetings, partnering with resources outside of the team to get things done, making priority trade-off decisions, managing customer expectations, generating product buzz and communicating to a large number of stakeholders.

The role is expected to communicate effectively to all levels within the company, both in writing and in meetings. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise, including a working understanding of systems design using common cloud technologies, able to actively participate in review discussions about engineering architecture and design, able to independently resolve integration challenges with external teams, and review UML, ERD and related technical diagrams and documents.

The candidate will have experience managing complex products that span multiple projects and programs across multiple engineering and stakeholder groups. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast paced environment, deals well with ambiguity, develops and builds clarity, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to dig into any initiative or business problem. The candidate will have high standards for themselves and everyone they work with, and will be constantly looking around corners to prevent short sighted decisions while making trade-off decisions to optimize time-to-market. We are looking for a proven ability to work closely with the engineering team, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambiguous product domains that rely on the candidate's ability to generate clarity, solutions and a path to successful outcomes.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: 20-40%

Key job responsibilities

  • Support various business groups within the Amazon Global Procurement Organization, converting requests into value-justified initiatives, well-researched solution recommendations, product charters and roadmaps, a pipeline of feature-sets and deliverables to deliver value to multinational business teams.

  • Partner with business sponsors and stakeholders to identify clear and measurable paths to value for products feature-sets, to drive clear decisions about which technology investments the organization will prioritize.

  • Apply a structured change management approach to roadmap changes and new product opportunities to effectively meet customer needs and maintain transparency.

  • Operate as a single-threaded-leader of the products within the PM-T's portfolio, taking responsibility for creatively delivering results through partnerships, vision and product leadership.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Earn the trust of key stakeholders both inside and outside of the department

  • Manage intake requests for features and projects, assisting requestors to value-justify their proposals

  • Become a SME for business processes and relevant technology systems within the assigned business domains and associated programs.

  • Champion standards and process improvements

  • Create and manage measurements that track adoption and utilization of products and features, using KPI's to measure and drive successful goal completion and inform product road map pivot decisions

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 6+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with software feature prioritization and negotiating trade-off decisions

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions about technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience managing a portfolio of technical products or online services

  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, PowerPivot or QuickSight

  • Experience building and driving adoption of new tools and business workflows

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
