THE ROLE: AMD Research and Advanced Development is seeking a Software Development Researcher to create and analyze dataflow programming models and APIs on workloads for AI and HPC applications. THE PERSON: You love inventing and implementing new features to increase efficiency and optimize performance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Invent, design and analyze dataflow architecture extensions and APIs to help drive performance enhancements for AI workloads. Identify consequent hardware-software co-design of the processor requirements to support such workloads. Drive the results of the research projects into product roadmaps. Collaborate with teams within AMD Research and Advanced Development, product groups, and vendor partners to help improve the AMD HPC ecosystem. Submit patentable inventions. Clearly communicate research findings to product, commercial, and academic audiences. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred. Experience with firmware development and programming in embedded environments. Understanding of dataflow programming models and heterogeneous compute architectures. Knowledge of GPUs and AI accelerators and their progrmaming models. Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail. Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs. Experience with Windows and/or Linux operating system development. Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Motivating leader with good interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience in ideation, evaluation, and optimization of a research project. Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to organize and present complex technical information. Strong analytical skills. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: PhD or equivalent research accomplishments in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field preferred.
