Amazon Software Development Engineer II, AFT EE and Central Support in Bellevue, Washington

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) team powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates the software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers, which move billions of units of inventory and ensures customers get what they want when promised. Within AFT, we are looking for strong systems development engineers who are result-oriented, data-oriented, innovative and passionate at working with comprehensive engineering excellence services/solutions.

As a Software Development Engineer on this team, you will work with other experienced and senior software engineers to drive improvements to our technology, operate and maintain services and software solutions, and build and track metrics to ensure high quality results. Your solutions will help provide the ultimate customer service experience needed to anticipate and resolve customer's questions using an automated assistant. You will have the opportunity to work with business partners, senior management and other engineers, influence and drive product vision and lead the design of our systems.

Key job responsibilities

Key job responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • working alongside development on Amazon Corporate and Divisional Software projects,

  • updating/enhancing our current software, automation of support processes, documentation of our systems,

  • manage AFT org level operational cadence and programs.

  • diagnosing and fixing production software issues, developing monitoring solutions, performing software maintenance and configuration

  • implementing the fix for internally developed code (Perl, , C/C++, JAVA), debugging

  • executing persistence solutions queries, updating, tracking and resolving technical challenges.

Responsibilities also include:

  • The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure.

  • You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages.

  • You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.

AFT’s EE and Central Support team leverages data, process improvement, and innovative technologies to provide comprehensive engineering excellence services/solutions across AFT’s product portfolios.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
