Amazon Senior Technical Program Manager, Fleet, Aviation Sourcing & Technical in Bellevue, Washington

In this role, you will regularly interact with executive leadership and work with multiple teams across geographies to define product strategy, develop the product development roadmap, technology and execution. You will be responsible for the end to end ownership of multiple technology deliverables, including setting the technical vision for developing our systems to serve Amazon's needs. You will build a consistent project management framework and excellent development processes to deliver high quality software, in rapid iterations, for business partners in multiple geographies. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically day-to-day by diving deeply into business and technical domains. As a multi-discipline leader, the buck will stop with you - you will work alongside engineering (dev and test) organization.

To accomplish the above, you will need to demonstrate strong business and technical judgment that will accelerate time to market of releases, while incrementally moving our services towards the long-term vision. You will be representing the technical organization and evangelize the work to senior leadership. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and passionate about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals. Experience with building and operating web-based applications and/or web services-based applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful. You should show thought leadership, and communicate well to different audiences.

The Senior Technical Program Manager, FAST (Fleet, Aviation Sourcing & Technical) will support the the growth and operations within Amazon AIR. Through annual planning, goal setting, leads operations structure, and process development/optimization across the organization, you provide data-driven solutions to help business teams improve their efficiency.

In this role you will be the single threaded leader driving the organization technical analysis programs. You will dive deep to create new business insights leveraging programming languages, derive analytical insights, and share data driven analysis to discuss with & influence stakeholders, including but not limited to Amazon AIR leadership teams, AWS partners partners and global cross functional teams.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead critical organization wide business initiatives and programs from ideation through execution

  • Ensure consistent and efficient execution of all functions by working closely with internal business partners and stakeholders to drive adoption and implementation of global standards, processes, and programs

  • Develop management dashboards and reports that are actionable and automated

  • Drive process improvement and change management – lead and deliver training

  • Implement the global operating cadence for account teams working backwards from the organizational goals

  • Track and report all key performance indicators, goals, efficiency and trend analyses during weekly/monthly business reviews

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis & participate on projects as needed

  • Analyze data and trends to make informed recommendations to managers and drive change

  • Define requirements for specific tooling to support processes and optimize day to day work

A day in the life

Day to day activities include leading and attending conference calls, writing and presenting business papers, holding one-on-one status calls with partners, completing fact-finding and feedback collection sessions, and deep diving data, feedback, and other information to propose root-cause analyses and correlating solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • 5+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

  • Data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software

  • Experience with implementation of third party software

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
