Build a next-level carrier tech platform:

At Flexport, the Convoy Carrier Tech Team is actively expanding and building upon the Convoy Platform ( http://convoy.com ) to modernize the trillion dollar trucking industry with a best in class digital freight network. We provide Carriers with a seamless end-to-end digital experience that eliminates hassle to ensure their trucks are always full and they get paid quickly and efficiently with minimal effort.

The opportunity:

Our mission on the Carrier Tech Team is to build a best-in-class platform and application that allows seamless carrier onboarding experience, a marketplace to allow easy load discovery and booking, and faster payments.

We're building the next generation of our platform responsible for managing thousands of active carriers and providing an easy way to onboard carriers and maintain compliance information. This platform is also responsible for building a marketplace that makes it easy to find and book loads and leverages machine learning models that can automatically optimize and negotiate shipment prices.

Tomorrow, we'll use this foundation to deep dive into end to end carrier experience workflows and build a highly scalable world class carrier experience platform which can help maximize carriers’ earnings, get instant access to loads from brokers from across the nation with an offer feed built using cutting edge recommendation and relevance models and reduce hassle by making their job easier and cutting down operational costs and boosting profits.

You will:

  • Deep dive into our customer's workflows for managing sprawling, complex supply chains to design and build systems that solve their problems at scale, and make it easy for other engineers to solve problems within that domain.

  • Own those customer problems end to end, working with broker and shipper teams, and internal operations teams to build the right solution for the customer.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the team's technology stack, driving best practices in system design and back-end coding and upholding a high quality bar.

  • Lead by example, spending most of your time building performant and reliable services

  • Guide the team's technical roadmap, pushing for the technology choices that will make our systems performant, reliable, and easy to build in.

You should have:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience

  • Full stack experience

  • Understanding of database tradeoffs and ability to pick and work with the right tool for the job (SQL, NoSQL, scaling characteristics, etc)

  • Experience with distributed systems development, and technologies like, RPC, GraphQL and Kafka

  • Strong system design skills

  • Experience driving inter-team technical collaboration, communication and alignment

  • Experience running code reviews and mentoring engineers in a technical capacity

It’s a plus if you:

  • Have experience with Typescript

  • Have experience with Kubernetes

  • Have experience with React

  • Have experience with the AWS tech stack

  • Embrace not working only in a strictly defined swimlane, but jumping in to fix problems in areas where ownership is ambiguous and advocating for the customer across teams.

We know everyone's career looks a little bit different and encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description!
