The Senior Program Manager will serve the Global Aviation Operations (GAO) team as a single-threaded leader of DG training topics by developing a long-term integrated AIR DG training strategy, creating and maintaining the company-owned program, and acting as a single voice for Aviation Standards for this program. This training program will include, at minimum: (1) general awareness / familiarization content; (2) function-specific content; (3) safety and security awareness content, as applicable; (4) requirements for DG instructor personnel; and (5) recordkeeping standards and processes for DG training, to include compliance-enforcing mechanisms for hazmat employees. This leadership role will also be responsible for collaborating with AIR’s carrier partners and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to gain formal acceptance of the DG training program beyond Amazon, while also ensuring near-term DG training needs are met by carriers or external partners, as appropriate.

Establishing project management tools is a foundational competency of the role and the Sr. PM, Aviation Training — DG should be focused on defining milestones, goals, and solutions that are safety- and customer-centric.

This position will work closely with AIR Network Training (ANT) and Aviation Standards teammates, the Principal PM DG for GAO, AIR site learning teams, 3P partners (as appropriate), and other DG stakeholders within the company (i.e., Worldwide DG / Compliance, WHS, etc.).

Additionally, this position will work with Amazon’s Air Cargo (ACAR) Team, Ground Operations teams, and other cargo / ground operation stakeholders to ensure associate training requirements are met as they pertain to new business opportunities requiring enhanced DG training. This position will require strong communication with executive leaders, corporate managers, technical product managers, airline carrier partner leadership, regulatory authorities, and third-party vendors.

This leader will be responsible for project managing DG training initiatives that require cross-team, cross-company, and third party collaboration, as required, developing DG training standards that enable new AIR business (Amazon Fulfillment Network or cargo). This leader will provide Amazon Air with the necessary mechanisms and resources to meet or exceed all regulations, operational performance goals, and operational metrics. This position will create and report training metrics and write various forms of program / project business and safety communications to improve compliance and cross-divisional coordination within the overall Amazon Air program.
