AstrumU Senior Data Scientist in BELLEVUE, Washington

Job title -- Senior Data Scientist

Job duties -- Continuously explore state-of-the-art Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing techniques, algorithms, and models to enhance the organization's data processing capabilities and address business challenges. Propose, design, build, and validate predictive models using large and complex datasets, ensuring their performance meets the necessary accuracy, latency, and scalability requirements. Work closely with data engineers to preprocess, clean, and structure large volumes of unstructured and structured data, making it ready for analysis and modeling. Engage with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, sales, and business leaders, to understand requirements, set priorities, and translate business needs into data science solutions. Guide junior data scientists, data engineers, and analysts, sharing data science expertise and promoting best practices within the team. Partner with software engineering and development teams to deploy, monitor, and maintain predictive models in production, ensuring their consistent performance and scalability. Regularly assess the performance of implemented models, making essential modifications or tweaks in response to user feedback and shifts in data patterns. Clearly document methodologies, experiments, insights, and ensure stakeholders are updated on the progress and outcomes of multiple projects. 

Education required - Master's degree in Computer Science or another quantitative discipline. 

Experience required -- 2 years of experience working with machine learning specialized in NLP/deep learning.  

Background -- Special requirements - 2 years of experience implementing and managing data science projects, which involves tasks such as collecting and cleaning data; performing statistical analysis; conducting experimentation; building advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence models; evaluating results; maintaining and monitoring models; and presenting insights using appropriate data visualization tools.  2 years of experience in working on text or natural language data, including performing information retrieval and search of unstructured data from documents using generic machine learning techniques and complex large language modeling techniques.  2 years of experience with popular supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms, such as decision trees, logistic regression, Naive Bayes, SVM, or KNN clustering.  2 years of experience collaborating across cross-teams, including product, architectural, customer, and engineering teams, and monitoring junior team members for building end-to-end predictive models.  1 year of experience in researching and implementing the latest achievements and best practices in data science, which includes establishing robust data governance protocols and promoting ethical AI practices to guarantee the responsible utilization of data and machine learning modes, particularly when deploying these models into production environments. 2 years of experience with NLP/ML tools and packages, including pyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, and NLTK. 2 years of experience with coding, especially Python, and experience translating this work into building production-quality applications related to NLP/ML.  2 years of experience using Elasticsearch.  2 years of experience with data pipelines and processing large quantities of streaming data such as PySpark.  2 years of experience with SQL/NoSQL.  2 years of experience with famous data structures such as graph or tree.  1 year of experience in building generative AI models for text-based data like PDFs and HTML files.
