Amazon Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, Demand Forecasting, Inbound Forecasting Analytics in Bellevue, Washington

Description

Amazon has the world’s most complex supply chain: we fulfill global demand for hundreds of millions of products at lightning fast delivery speeds. We need your skills to optimize our supply chain, with the end goal of delighting our customers. A core part of the supply chain operations is Demand and Inbound Forecasting: We forecast the demand and arrival of tens of millions of products. The forecasts are used to make many decisions, such as automatically order hundreds of millions worth of inventory, decide where to place that inventory, and establish labor plans for WW warehouses.

We are looking for a Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer to lead the development of new tools to monitor and improve forecast health. You will do this by detecting, diagnosing and correcting forecast problems and generating metrics and insights. You will have the resources and tools to help you deliver this mission and support from partner teams like Data Engineering/Data Science/Product.

A successful candidate will be customer obsessed - the Forecasting org has 50+ unique customers. You will need to balance long-term thinking with short-term actions. You will be comfortable navigating an ambiguous environment, know how to confirm and reconfirm assumptions, and be able to harmonize disparate points of view.

  • Partner with scientists, engineers, product managers, and program managers to build and productionize forecasting metrics; perform analysis to identify the root cause of issues and generate actionable insights to guide the appropriate solution

  • Engage stakeholders in constructive dialogues to convert business problems into logic problems that can be solved with data, statistics, and scripting

  • Build internal and customer-facing dashboards to provide metrics and convey insights which highlight forecast performance and explain variance

  • Manage and execute entire projects or components of large projects from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, data modeling and finding synthesis, and communication of insights and recommendations

  • Mentor team members by coaching them on the analytics lifecycle, including identifying the optimal analytical method, building and automating the solution, and generating insights from the results

A day in the life

  • Engage regularly with customers to identify and prioritize forecast improvement opportunities

  • Define and deliver a long-term vision to solve the customer's problems and improve forecast accuracy

  • Lead the definition and governance of key business metrics, and engineer data-driven processes that drive business value

  • Create and foster an environment that values and promotes an inclusive approach to problem solving and continuous learning
