The query formulation Relevance team helps users express their questions in various search entry points like the Windows search box and Edge browser search box by providing them query suggestions as they type their query into the search box. The algorithms for providing real-time suggestions leverage techniques from the fields of information retrieval, data mining, machine learning and distributed systems. We are fortunate to be able to work with huge volumes of rich data using one of the world’s largest data processing systems. This provides a fantastic environment for data miners and analysts to uncover substantial insights and translate them into actions that drive the product and ultimately have a big impact on user productivity and business success.
The Query Formulation Relevance team is composed of extremely talented and engaged individuals who are experts at extracting information from data. The team members have a mixture of backgrounds including information retrieval, data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, statistics, applied math, and software development.
