Key job responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted safety partner to senior regional leaders across North America, aligning on strategic priorities and tracking progress against goals

  • Conduct regular site visits to distribution centers, sortation facilities, and delivery stations to personally observe safety practices, gather feedback from frontline teams, and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Utilize insights from site visits to develop and update regional safety standards, protocols, and training materials that drive consistent, best-in-class safety performance

  • Lead comprehensive incident investigations, rapidly identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence - share learnings globally to scale impact

  • Design and execute engaging safety engagement campaigns and events to foster a culture of shared ownership and accountability

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Operations, Engineering, HR, and beyond to scale successful safety initiatives and embed sustainable improvements

  • Monitor safety metrics, analyze trends, and present recommendations to senior leadership on priorities and investment areas

A day in the life

A typical day for our Amazon Safety Manager is anything but typical! You might start with a series of check-in calls, connecting with regional operational leaders across North America to discuss emerging issues, share best practices, and align on priorities. Then, you hop on a global project call, collaborating with teammates from around the world to finalize a new safety training. In the afternoon, you conduct a thorough incident investigation, reviewing footage, interviewing witnesses, and mapping out root causes. Whether on the road or in meetings, your passion for keeping Amazon's global workforce safe guides every moment.

About the team

The global OTS WHS team partners closely with Amazon's IT function, working backwards from frontline technicians and end users to identify safety improvement opportunities. We collaborate cross-functionally to create policies, drive standardization, and enhance hardware - all with the goal of continuously improving procedural safety across the organization. By remaining closely connected to the daily realities of our workforce, we can develop targeted solutions that protect our people and empower them to work safely. It's a dynamic, solutions-oriented group where we leverage our technical expertise and business acumen to make a real impact.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Qualified Safety Professional

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience leading risk programs, setting the program’s objectives, and driving improvements through quantified metrics

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
