Key job responsibilities

This role combines deep policy knowledge with strategic technology implementation to drive business success. Your core responsibilities include serving as the primary SME for compensation policies, documenting and translating complex requirements for technology solutions, and managing new project intakes from conception to implementation. You'll facilitate crucial discussions between business and technical teams while ensuring all solutions align with business objectives. On the strategic level, you'll identify and evaluate opportunities for technology enhancements that streamline compensation processes, assess potential risks and gaps in existing systems, and develop comprehensive strategies to address operational challenges. By driving innovation through data-driven solutions and process improvements, your expertise will be crucial in bridging business needs with technical solutions, ensuring our compensation programs remain efficient, scalable, and ahead of industry standards.

A day in the life

Strategic Planning & Risk Management

• Partner with operations and technology teams to identify and prioritize solutions for critical gaps

• Conduct thorough investigations and requirements gathering sessions

• Design and implement short-term risk mitigation strategies

• Develop long-term risk elimination plans

• Ensure alignment between technical solutions and business objectives

Project Management

• Lead new project intakes and facilitate discussions between business and tech teams

• Develop comprehensive project launch plans

• Drive execution activities in collaboration with key stakeholders

• Create and oversee testing strategies

• Monitor implementations from initiation to completion

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications

  • 2+ years’ experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

  • 2+ years’ experience in program or project management

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience conducting analysis and data mining using Excel

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Passion for innovation, process improvement, and the customer experience

  • Strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in conducting investigative work, including claimant, witness, and target employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation

  • Experience developing policies and supporting documentation

  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive employee information and adherence to strict confidentiality standards

  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills

  • Thorough command of HR processes and systems that administer or control payroll or pay programs.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.

  • Previous experience with payroll

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $57,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $123,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
