Job Description: Production Assembly Technician I

Purpose of Position:
Use a variety of hand and power tools, fixtures, jigs, test equipment and work instructions to perform a series of
operations to correctly assemble and/or test instruments or subassemblies.
This position relies primarily on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the job functions.
Essential Functions (specific duties may vary by location):
Perform pre-assembly quality check on all components
Follow detailed assembly instructions in a variety of formats (i.e, drawings, schematics, bills of material,
internal procedures or some combination thereof), and report work completed on a daily basis
Perform quality checks on completed assemblies, as needed
Understand and meet quality and delivery requirements
Recognize and report problems with quality, processes, equipment or materials to Production Lead,
Supervisor or Operations Manager
Provide hands-on job function training to coworkers as needed
Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing best practices
Participate in Kaizen Events
Work with a high level of supervision
Work off-shift, as needed, to support department, meet deadlines or to maximize up-time on
machinery/processes
Other Non-Essential Functions:
Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: checking parts availability, cross-training, collecting
data and information either from individuals or from a group, participating in daily organizational meetings,
and/or participating in walk-arounds.
Education, Background and Qualification Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
1-3 years of related work experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to learn new computer software programs
Strong electro-mechanical skills (soldering, proper wire stripping and crimping techniques)
Excellent attention to detail
Basic knowledge of necessary instruments and tools
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and/or internal procedures in English
Ability to effectively present information to Leads, Supervisors and Managers in English
Ability to respond to common inquiries or issues

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb, balance, stoop,
bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, hear, and smell. The employee is constantly required to stand/or sit,
squat, turn/twist, reach, use hands to: finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and computer
keyboards.
The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push or pull up to 150 pounds with assistance and up to 65
pounds without assistance, and/or frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 20 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
Employees will be required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which may include:
eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective smock, steel toe shoes, gloves, or face shields. Contact
lenses may not be allowed in some areas.
