Microsoft Corporation Principal Software Engineering Manager in Bellevue, Washington

We are the Business Applications Platform (BAP) Web and Services platform team and our primary mission is to help our users and customers through the discovery, acquisition and engagement process for BAP products primarily through our websites.

We are looking for a Principal Engineering Lead who loves technological challenges and problem solving, is excited about online services, cloud computing and user experience, and is passionate about making better software while continuously improving the engineering process.

As a senior leader on the team, you will be responsible for delivering through your team, critical services and experiences that deeply integrate with all BAP products and enhance our customer journey and product success.

A successful lead in this role will not only be accountable for business outcomes overall, but lead through modeling, coaching, and caring for their team.

This role requires a strong bias for action, willingness to take risks, customer obsession, strong technical depth, robust problem solving, the ability to push through ambiguity, making data informed decisions, collaborating with partner teams, building high performing teams, and developing the next wave of leaders at Microsoft.


Responsibilities :

  • Designing and building robust, scalable services and APIs using cloud technologies

  • Lead, grow and manage a team of strong engineers

  • Embody Microsoft’s culture and passion for growth mindset.

  • Champion engineering practices that ensure high quality and agile development practices.

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to the team in high scale design, development, and live-site management.

  • Deliver on service Fundamentals (service uptime, compliance, security, privacy, etc.)

  • Continually drive QoS improvements through tests, automation, monitoring, and alerts

  • Partner with Product management for prioritizing and delivering customer value in a rapidly evolving environment.

  • Demonstrate ability to handle ambiguity and collaborate across multiple groups and disciplines.

  • Ability to influence partner teams to deliver cohesive features with an iterative approach.


Required Qualifications :

  • 6+ years in software development

  • 2+ years’ experience as a people manager

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS or similar cloud computing platforms is preferred

  • Effective collaborator, experienced in creating technical partnerships across teams

  • Strong problem-solving and design skills

  • Prior experience withdevelopinglarge high-volume services, with service-oriented development andcloud-basedsystems

  • Strong communication and critical thinking abilities.

  • Ability to work with multiple partner teams and external vendors to deliver impact
