Payroll Analyst
Smartsheet is looking for a Payroll Analyst with experience to join a growing HR/Total Rewards team in a high-growth Software as a Service (SaaS) company. You will provide direct employee payroll support globally, processing and completing payroll batches, reconciling, and taking on other payroll tasks as assigned. You are super detail-oriented, curious, and analytical. You have exceptional communication skills and the ability to think outside the box for problem solving and solutions. We are looking for process improvers that can easily pick up and oversee the payroll operations responsibility. There is a wealth of knowledge to be learned and we're looking for a team player that is excited to jump right in!

You will report to our Payroll Manager and can work in our Bellevue, WA office or be remote.
You Will:
Help with US and International payroll processing for Australia and UK
Prepare, reconciling and processing of Stock payrolls
Help with the registration for new State/SUI/Local payroll tax and add the new State/SUI/Local tax jurisdictions into Workday
Calculate off-cycle terminations for the US employees
Monitor the administration of Workday Time & Attendance and process timesheets for hourly employees
Process and reconcile global payroll for 1800+ employees (and growing)
Partner with AP and Tax/Treasury on funding requests globally
Work with third-party vendor (OSV) to create payroll cases and process off-cycle adjustments
Help with external audits (e.g. 401(k) audit, worker's compensation, multi-jurisdictions tax) by providing supporting records and documentations
Reconcile payroll tax deposits and Quarterly returns
Year end - W2/W3 reconciliation and reporting
Keep informed of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance
Directly assist employees and managers in payroll-related questions or issues
Can research payroll issues, demonstrating high analytical ability, knowledge of best practices, and an understanding of federal and state payroll tax and labor law developments
Maintain confidential information with the highest degree of integrity and privacy
Work with HR Ops, Benefits, Compensation, Stock and Accounting teams to document payroll changes and processes
Other responsibilities include participate in special projects, or ad hoc analyses as assigned.
You Have:
5+ years direct payroll experience processing multi-state payroll for 1800+ US, UK and Australia employees
Experience with local, state, and federal payroll and tax laws
Experience with international payroll (UK and Australia)
Experience with Smartsheet and Workday Payroll
Familiarity with Fidelity, CloudPay, OSV Atmosphere or other payroll and HR equivalent systems
Experience with stock-payroll transactions (ESPP, ISOs, NQs and RSUs) and reconciliations
The ability to work with individuals inside and outside Smartsheet in a way consistent with our values and commitment to service
Direct and clear written and verbal communicator
Strong attention to detail with high level of accuracy
Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, demonstrate good personal judgment, and handle tasks
Handle workload fluctuations and multiple requests
Advanced level of proficiency using Microsoft Office (Vlookups, and Pivot tables) and Google sheets for Work
Experience with accounting, taxation, and finance concepts as it relates to payroll
Adaptable to a fast-changing work environment while able to work well under stress and tight deadlines.
Knowledge and mindset for automation and improvements to improve processes for scalability
